Excitement
Pattern blueprints describe how emotional states actually show up in real time - in your body, behaviour, and thinking.
They're tools you can use to recognise what's happening and respond more effectively.
Oooh, this looks interesting!
This might be you if
- You feel pulled towards something
- It has the potential to be great
- Attraction is high, but certainty or full familiarity is low - 'I don't know exactly what this is/will be like, but I think it's gonna be good!'
What it feels like
Fluid, dance-like expansive movement - arms opened wide in front of or above the head, shoulders/hips/waist wiggling.
Gaze is expansive and outwards - either focused on one object or person 'soaking it in' or slow, smooth head movements as the eyes travel across everything in view.
Eyes often bright, alert, sparkling or glistening like water on a sunny day.
Face is open, expressive, cheeks up.
Front/incisor teeth can be held together with force, but with the mouth/lips open rather than closed or clamped.
Eyebrows are relaxed or slightly raised, hairline/forehead pulled up, eyes fully open.
Heart rate is increased or more noticeable, can feel flushed or hot, and experience flutter sensation in the stomach/abdomen.
Movement is outwards/forwards/up and down if in limited space - will often see little jumps of excitement when forwards movement is not possible/appropriate.
Excitement travels - up, out, forwards.
Speech pattern is additive and flows in one direction - 'and...and...and...'
Thought patterns are the same - sentences extend, ideas stack, forward momentum, less qualification.
What's actually happening
Your system is signalling 'look at this, this! This could be good!'
- High attraction curiosity
- Focus here
- Explore this novelty
Function
Don't be scared - move towards that thing! Let's check it out!
What helps right now
- Recognise this is a directional signal
- Explore!
- Move towards it
How to experience it more often
- increase self-reliance
- bask!
- increase belonging - excitement is amplified when combined with connection
common misreads
- commitment
- a 'sign' or 'proof' of rightness
- anxiety
- joy
what happens if you ignore excitement
- Missed opportunities for positive experiences
- Limit knowledge and experiences to those that are already familiar
