Emma is a busy Mum of 2 who runs a brick and mortar business with her husband. Emma spent almost her whole first session in tears – exhausted, depleted, overwhelmed. Her workload was enough to keep 2 or 3 people fully occupied and she couldn’t see a way to change that anytime soon
Taking Time Management to a Whole New Level
Emma’s biggest challenge was managing her massively overloaded list of jobs. Juggling payroll and marketing, accounts and invoicing with caring for children and managing the home is something many women in business struggle with.
Emma found herself staying up late into the night so she could work whilst her children slept…but the result was that she was utterly exhausted.
We needed to find a solution that would allow Emma to fill her well and do the necessary work for her business.
The first step was to get Emma to sleep more – afternoon naps, early nights, dozing on the sofa whilst the kids played, any and all sleep was a priority. To make sure that Emma could keep up with the essential business jobs, we created a system called microslots. Emma would write a to-do list and allocate a time estimate to each task. Instead of prioritising tasks in terms of importance (we’d got rid of all but the essential tasks anyway), Emma would pick a task to complete based on how much time she had available at that point
