Lazy Sunday mornings…aren’t they just the best tonic to a busy week?

So to ease you through the day, what’s behind door number 9?

It’s The Artist Way by Julia Cameron!

Now, if you don’t believe yourself to be an artist, you might think this book is for other people and not for you…and yet, I think at the heart of us all is a well of creativity.  Some of us can draw and paint and sculpt, others play with light or sound or texture…and some of us come up with ideas or solutions, some of us devise new processes or systems or ways for communicating.  Creativity isn’t just about making art which goes on to grace the walls of The Tate or The Guggenheim.

Creativity is necessary in nearly all walks of life – running a business, connecting with others, raising a family, maintaining friendships, buying a house, making a home, developing news systems, dreaming up new solutions.  Knowing how to make the best use of your own creativity, how to develop it and nurture it, are key skills we all need to be building and The Artist Way is a brilliant guide to help you do just that.

It’s several years since I last worked through the book and I’m considering doing so again.  I’m curious as to whether there is any appetite for an online book club focussed on business and personal development books.  I’ve set up a group and I will be using it as a space for working through various books over the next few months – if you’d like to join me, you can do so below (I can’t promise it’ll last long term – this is more of a trial, testing out an idea).

Have you read The Artist’s Way?  Is honing your creativity something you actively work on?  Share your experiences with us over on facebook, in the comments below or drop me an email
